Anniversary Dinner

August 7, 2008 10am UK time, pick up phone and call Restaurant Gordon Ramsay for reservation. No answer until 10:30am. Table for 2? Yes. The earliest we have is 10pm. We will take it!

After 2 months of anticipating this dinner and of course our 2 year Anniversary the night was upon us. We got dressed up for the evening and headed out with an earlier reservation after someone nicely cancelled and moved us up to 8:45pm.

Don't mind my flip flops as I didn't want to schlep around and walk in my heels. I thought the 2nd picture was cute with Bailey looking on as her mom and dad took a photo :-)

We arrived at the Restaurant at 8pm and were planning on sitting and having a pre-dinner drink. Our table was ready so we were seated instead. The decor was simple but chic. Cream walls with a few mirrors to make the 12 table restaurant feel bigger. White table linens, silver lined plates, candles and flowers on every table. We were off to a great start.

I started off with a Bellini and Scott a glass of Champagne. The menu was split between either the a la carte or prestige menu (basic terms 3 course or 7 course sampling menu). I chose the 3 course and Scott did the 7 course.

The food was magnificent!

Libby's Dinner

  2. Pot roasted Northumberland beef fillet with meat and parsnip pie and red wine sauce
  3. Hazelnut and Chocolate Souffle with milk ice cream

Scott's Dinner

  1. Roasted Loire Valley foie gras with braised carrots and almond foam
  2. Ravioli of lobster, langoustine and salmon with tomato chutney and vinaigrette
  3. Fillet of turbot with braised baby gem lettuce and a citrus sauce
  4. Cannon of Cornish lamb with confit shoulder, ratatouille and thyme jus
  5. Granny smith apple sorbet
  6. Mango Passion fruit smoothie
  7. Bitter chocolate and hazelnut cylinder with ginger ice cream and blackberry granité

Canapes:

  1. Sandwich made of thinly sliced potatoes friend with pesto and fresh mozzarella
  2. Pastry cone stuffed with avocado and lobster
  3. Scallops with caviar served in a broccoli soup

House Desserts:

  1. Turkish Delight Squares
  2. Strawberry Ice Cream balls covered in White Chocolate
  3. Mango Sorbet

Needless to say we were STUFFED after dinner but are ready to go back again...like today!

We would highly recommend everyone to try it as the service was impeccable, food was mouthwatering and the company was the best!
